Loriendale Devon Rex Cattery is located in Christchurch, New Zealand. We live in a quiet hill suburb overlooking the city from about ten kilometers out of the central city. The house is surrounded by native bush and trees, and is almost 200 meters from the nearest road. It is a very tranquil environment indeed.
Our local vets have their surgery conveniently at the bottom of the hill.

The house is built off the side of the hill so we live at a level of the tree tops. In "The lord of the rings" the elves lived in the tree tops in a town called Lothlorien. This is where we developed our cattery name from.
Our devons all live with us as accepted family members and are never caged except for transport.
I saw my first Devon Rex (Maru) at a cat show over twenty years ago, I have been an admirer for many years but at that stage owner of an Oriental and a Siamese.

In 2002 we were blessed to adopt our first Devon girl. "Lily" (Ch Makinwaves Princess of Yoda) who has realised the dream of having little "Elf Pixies" frequent our household.

We Thank Sharon Wilson-Tate of Makinwaves for allowing us to have Lily.

Lily is now retired

After breeding two litters we decided to increase our family and now have Lily's daughter Rose ( Gold Db Gr Ch Loriendale Rosie de Constantine).

Ch Nevaska Macchiato Mo arrived from Australia in 2005 introducing the pointed bi colour pattern to our cattery. Unfortunately Bart passed away in October 2007 and will be dearly missed not only at Loriendale but within the Devon community in New Zealand and Australia.

We thank Carolynn Davies of Nevaska Cattery for allowing us to have Bart

4th February 2005 - 12th October 2007

Gr Ch Loriendale Lotus de L'Alexandrie was born on the 18th December 2005 and has become a breeding queen as we decided to retire Lily
